UNITED KINGDOM EBAY & PAYPAL FEES STRUCTURE

eBay’s fees are calculated based on whether you are a business or private seller. If you are a business seller, then the final value fee will vary based on your listed item is and its category, regardless of your shop type.

EBay also rewards sellers with a if they are a Top Rated Seller, which gives a 10% discount on final value fees. Read more on eBay’s website to understand the requirements.

There is a maximum final value fee cap of £250 for per item sold.

Business sellers are also charged additional 20% VAT.
If you’re registered for VAT, then you can claim back the VAT of the item cost and eBay final value fee but the government will also take 20% of what you charged your customer.

EBAY PROMOTED LISTINGS

You can use eBay’s Promoted Listings to show your listings to more customers and get more sales. The fee charged is based on the ad rates you selected.

Quoting eBay – Ad rate is the percentage of an item’s final sale price (excluding postage), and is only charged when a buyer clicks on the promoted listing and purchases the promoted item within 30 days of that click.

The rate at which you show ads can be between 1% to 20% with an increment of 0.1%. Meaning you can have an ad rate of 1.5% or 16.2%. This is a useful additional tool but best for professionals or those with large amounts of competition.
